Day 3: Steak steak steak!!! - Sydney Ying

Today was steak day! We all got the chance to cook our own steaks and learn the different ways you can cook a steak. Today was steak, mashed potatoes, mushroom steak sauce and honeyed carrots. Today was the best meal so far, a clear favorite by the majority of us, and it’s only the third day! 
For our meal, we had to sautée mushrooms and mix beef broth with wine and flour to make the steak sauce. We cut our potatoes into cubes, soaked and cooked them, and then mashed them and added cream and seasoning. We seasoned our own steaks and grilled them individually before letting them bake in the oven. Our carrots were cut in thirds and quarters before coated in honey garlic sauce and roasted. 
We were pretty efficient today. There was a lot of cleaning but otherwise the cooking process went by fairly quickly. Many of us exercised our multitasking skills, and how to pay attention to more than one food cooking, which will be very important with making future meals. Tomorrow is sushi day at the MDC, so we’re all very excited and looking forward to it!
